Maureen Barcheski (Miss Maureen), seen in her retirement tiara and sash in front of gratitude posters, is retiring from her position as the extended daycare director at St. Aloysius School, in Bowling Green, where she has worked 10 years. She has spent a total of 24 years working with children from her time at various Toledo area preschools to her time at St. Aloysius. Barcheski’s retirement coincides with a 40th wedding anniversary with her husband, Dennis.

The third annual Pork-a-Lean fundraiser to benefit the Bowling Green Community Fireworks will be held June 11.
The event is presented by the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce with the Downtown Bowling Green Farmers Market and Belleville Brothers.
The fundraiser will be held at the downtown Farmers Market, 201 S. Main St., from 4 to 7 p.m.
Featured will be the Belleville Brothers Pork-a-Leans for $2.

Fort Meigs to host Muster on the Maumee PDF Print E-mail

PERRSYBURG - Fort Meigs will host Muster on the Maumee June 14 and 15.
The event includes re-enactors representing soldiers from over 10 centuries of warfare, from Roman legions to the modern American military.
Military re-enactors will portray individuals including Vikings, medieval archers, and soldiers from the War of 1812, American Civil War, and both World Wars, among others. Period camps will be open to tour, and the troops will demonstrate their uniforms and weapons.
Returning this year is the pike college. Guests can learn how to use a 16-foot-long pike and its role on the battlefield. Medieval archers will give longbow demonstrations, and there will be a  Viking combat demonstration. Also returning this year are historic artillery firings and the tunes of Bob Ford, folk musician.

Leadership BG annual meeting set for June 18
The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce Leadership BG Alumni Association will hold its annual meeting June 18, from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.,  at Klotz Floral Gift & Garden Center, 906 Napoleon Road.
The event will be catered by Mister Spots and The Cookie Jar.

Bill would designate portion of Route 65 in honor of soldier PDF Print E-mail

State Representative Tim Brown, R-Bowling Green, has announced that the Ohio House of Representatives passed legislation that would designate a portion of Ohio 65 in Wood County as the "Staff Sergeant Bradley C. Hart Memorial Roadway." House Bill 440 passed through the House Transportation, Public Safety, and Homeland Security Committee.
Hart died on Feb. 17 of 2011 at his base in Djibouti, Africa, from injuries he received in a noncombat incident while performing his official military duties. He was a Perrysburg High School and Penta Career Center graduate who served for nearly eight years in the United States Army. Hart enlisted as a wheeled vehicle mechanic and went on to become a paratrooper.
