A.A. Green Realtor Mary Marten and A.A. Green broker Mark Remeis didn’t know how Saturday night would end
up.
Once they found out, the two were shocked – and much honored.
The Wood County Board of Realtors surprised and recognized both Marten and Remeis at the Board’s 50th
Annual Installation Event Saturday evening.
Marten was inducted into the Wood County Board of Realtors Hall of Fame and Remeis earned the 2013
Realtor of the Year.
"It was a lot of fun," said A.A. Green Realtor and 2012 Realtor of the Year Sondra King.
"It was so hard to pick. We had a lot of worthy candidates."
Each of Bowling Green’s eight real estate offices submitted nominations in November.
King and a group of anonymous committee members reviewed the applications for the Realtor of the Year
nominees, and the family and friend testimonials for the Hall of Fame nominees.
"Everything was anonymous," King said. "It was not a popularity contest. It’s based on
what they achieved."
After all the information was considered, King was happy to announce Marten and Remeis’ honors at the
event.
"It was great to surprise them," she said.
Remeis’ job as a real estate broker combines two of his favorite things – real estate and giving back to
the community.
Those favorite things helped him earn the 2013 Realtor of the Year.
"I love real estate. I love buying property and helping people find their dream houses," he
said. "I feel very strongly that not only do I love what I do professionally, but it’s also about
giving back."
Giving back is almost another full time job in itself.
Remeis supports Bowling Green sports teams, sits on the American Cancer Society Board of Directors, the
Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce and several others.
"Not many people can say they love what they do," Remeis said. "I’m probably the luckiest
guy in the world."
His luck is heightened by the fact Remeis gets to work with his wife, Michelle, and his father-in-law,

Green.
"It’s family-oriented. We help each other out. It makes it fun," he said. "We’re lucky.
Everybody gets along so well. It makes it a great environment."
Remeis’ family/coworkers were there Saturday night to support him as he was surprised with his
recognition.
