OLD FORT — Using full-court pressure, Bowling Green quickly turned defense into offense on the way to a 65-32 win over Eastwood in a girls Division II sectional game Tuesday. PHOTO GALLERY
‘‘We practiced a lot on it. We had a scout team that helped us a lot,’’ BG junior Livvy Dill said about the full-court pressure. ‘‘It was really important. It set the tone for the rest of the game. Everybody was ready to play.’’
The Bobcats forced 11 turnovers in the first quarter, sprinting out to a 26-6 lead.
‘‘We knew the one big thing that could hurt us, is if we gave them a chance to kind of keep the game short, and stay in the game, because anything can happen,’’ BG head coach Jeff Nichols said. "We keep preaching that if we got out to a good start, that will set the tone, and we did that.
‘‘We thought we could get after their ball-handlers in the front court,’’ he added. ‘‘We probably should have turned a few more into baskets, but it’s what we told the kids we wanted to do and it’s what they did.’’
