ROSSFORD – "Xanadu, " a the 2007 Broadway musical comedy spoof that lampoons the 1980 B-movie
disaster that originally starred Olivia Newton John and Gene Kelly, will be on stage at Rossford High
School.
The show will run April 10-12 at 7:30 p.m. and April 13 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for
students. All tickets are general admission. There is a limited group of onstage seats available.
"Xanadu" follows the journey of a magical Greek muse, Kira, who descends from the heavens of
Mt. Olympus to Venice Beach, Calif., in 1980 on a quest to inspire a struggling artist, Sonny Malone, to
achieve the greatest artistic creation of all time – the first roller disco. But when Kira falls into
forbidden love with the mortal Sonny, her jealous sisters Melpomene and Calliope take advantage of the
situation and chaos abounds.
This campy, roller-skating, musical adventure about following your dreams despite the limitations others
set for you, rolls along to the original hit score composed by pop-rock legends Jeff Lynne and John
Farrar (of Electric Light Orchestra fame), and includes "Magic," "All Over The
World," "Suddenly," "I’m Alive," "Evil Woman," "Have You Never
Been Mellow" and "Xanadu," to name a few.
Rossford High School is the first school in the Toledo area to premiere this production.
The cast includes Stephanie Hiner as Kira, Tony Carlen as Sonny, Taylor Moore as Melpomene and Hannah
Peterson as Calliope.
Muses are played by Kelly Odneal, Trent McHugh, Lexi Rakovan, Lizzy Hornyak and Adam Sauter; Alex
Santellana portrays a real estate developer; and Nolan Duly plays Zeus.
Additional icons of mythology are played by Danny Fox, Katie Taylor, Kayla Kirkman, Kyleigh DeHart,
Daniel Hackney and Emily Williams. The production also features Kathleen Hermes and Aly Hope.
