Travis Greene, who was moved from wide receiver to running back to start spring drills, has
earned the start against Tulsa for the Bowling Green Falcon football team.Greene is a 5-10, 181,
redshirt sophomore.‘‘He’s exceeded expectations. He’s just so elusive; he has the ability to make people
miss,’’ BG head coach Dave Clawson said Tuesday. ‘‘When you move a receiver to running back, you always
worry about how they are going to hold up in (pass) protection, and he’s held up pretty well.‘‘He’s
quick, fast and can cut on a dime,’’ he added. With Green’s training as a wide receiver, he had good
hands for the passing game, Clawson said.Senior Jordan Hopgood, who is listed at No. 2 on the depth
chart, will be used in third-down situations.Redshirt sophomore Andre Givens and freshmen Fred Coppet
and Marcus Levy are also in the mix at running back.‘‘That position needs to make people miss,’’ Clawson
said. ‘‘They’re inexperienced, but they are talented.‘‘That’s a position where I think guys can play
early,’’ he continued. ‘‘Fred Coppet and Marcus Levy do a lot of things to get you excited.’’Clawson
said by the end of the year, he hopes the coaching staff can look at the running backs as a position of
strength.
