Veteran performer Malinowski plays at Rhythm on the River

GRAND RAPIDS — The next program of the Rhythm on the River Arts Series will be presented by the Duane Malinowski Orchestra on Sunday at 4 p.m.

The programs are held in the Wright Pavilion located on the towpath between the canal and the Maumee River at the end of Lincoln Street. They are sponsored by the Historical Society of Grand Rapids.

Malinowski has entertained audiences across the nation for over 40 years. As a musician and vocalist, he performs over 150 dates a year, performing all kinds of music. Along with his unique style of polkas, waltzes and obereks, he can thrill his audiences with the sounds of big band, country, jazz, rock and roll, and ‘50s and ‘60s styles of music. As an accomplished accordionist, he has the ability to make his instrument work in any situation and can sing in five languages. Members of Duane’s orchestra include his son Duane Jr. on drums, Jim Hatfield and Dick Zunkiewicz.

The concert is free, so bring lawn chairs or blankets and join in this beautiful setting alongside the Maumee River. In case of inclement weather, the program will be moved farther west on Front Street to the old fire station.
