Elmwood finishes as team runner-up at NBC wrestling

PEMBERVILLE — Genoa won the Northern Buckeye Conference wrestling championship at Eastwood High School Saturday, scoring 211½ points to outdistance second place Elmwood (118).

Otsego (107) was third, followed by Woodmore (96½), Fostoria (85), Lake (73), Rossford (59) and Eastwood (49).

In the 106-pound championship, Genoa freshman Scott Fuller (42-2) pinned Eastwood junior Ian Reynolds (23-4) in 1:29. Woodmore sophomore Matt Caldwell (16-16) placed third.

At 113 pounds, Genoa freshman Zayden Dunn (25-10) pinned Elmwood senior Grady Nekoranec (19-13) in 5:10. For third place, Lake sophomore Mason Snyder (25-10) pinned Rossford freshman Andrew Frankforther (9-17) in 2:49.

At 120, Otsego junior Trevor Wilcox (30-4) won the championship by pinning Genoa freshman Mike Soto (28-7) in 1:17. Elmwood freshman Mason Mossbarger (13-18) placed third by pinning Rossford freshman Aiden Farrell (14-20) in 2:44.

At 126, Genoa junior Noah Tipton (36-7) won a 7-4 decision against Lake junior Vincent Barton (28-9) in the championship. Otsego sophomore Owen Kasza (25-10) placed third with a 10-0 major decision against Elmwood freshman McKoy Morlock (17-16).

Genoa junior Nate Tipton (33-10) won the 132-pound title via a 3-0 decision against Elmwood sophomore Peyton Schaefer (20-12). Otsego sophomore Jake Limes (16-11) was third thanks to a 5-1 decision over Eastwood sophomore Gavin Shropshire (17-15).

At 138, Otsego senior Caedan Henderson (20-10) won the championship against Genoa sophomore Xavier Arriaga (19-6), who was disqualified. Elmwood junior Colin Campbell (18-15) won a 9-2 consolation final decision against Rossford freshman Joe Foels (12-17).

At 144, Otsego junior Carter Hartman (8-10) finished fourth after getting pinned in his consolation final by Fostoria junior Kaileb Schube (13-19). In the championship, Genoa sophomore Zavier Materni (31-14) pinned Woodmore senior Garrett Geldine (18-7) in 1:26.

At 150, Otsego senior Lee Borders (32-5) finished second after getting pinned by Fostoria junior James Simms (11-0) in 42 seconds. In the consolation, Woodmore freshman Michael Seeger (27-10) won a 6-5 decision against Rossford junior Dylan Eckhardt (11-11).

Rossford junior Ayden Wilson (27-6) won a 157-pound title with an 11-0 major decision against Elmwood senior Frank Blair (24-9). Genoa freshman Luke Clement (33-11) took third by winning in sudden victory, 8-6, against Woodmore freshman Landon Rich (17-12).

At 165, Elmwood junior Thomas Tyson (22-12) placed third after winning 7-0 against Lake senior Isaiah Reeder (18-14). Woodmore junior Jack Caldwell (33-7) won the championship with a 15-0 technical fall In 4:13 against Genoa senior Baily Everhardt (23-16).

Elmwood senior Cannon Endicott won a 175-pound title by pinning Eastwood sophomore Connor Norton in 3:03. In the consolation, Woodmore senior Jacob Roginski (30-10) pinned Lake junior Walker Howell (20-13) in 1:51.

At 190, Lake senior Angelo Anzaldua (19-13) placed third by pinning Genoa junior Luke Erwin (13-22) in 2:38. Woodmore senior Eli Wolph (36-5) won the title by pinning Fostoria senior Jose Garcia (23-14) in 2:35.

At 215, Genoa junior Ethan Crawford (33-9) won 9-3 against Lake senior Ryan Ranes (19-11) in the championship. Fostoria sophomore Trenton King (21-10) won 4-1 against Rossford senior Logan Biegannowski (10-10) in the consolation.

At 285, Otsego freshman Adolfo Martinez-Alba (8-11) placed third with a 7-6 decision against Eastwood sophomore Colton Oberhouse (18-12). Fostoria senior Binicio Flores (30-7) pinned Genoa’s Kevin Ludwig (18-14) in 2:21 to win the championship.
