BG sophomore Christian Stoever replaced senior Zack Rose in net to face off against LSSU sophomore Easton Hesse.
The Lakers had a strong start with three quick shots against Stoever.
The quick momentum was paused due to a big hit on Lakers forward Jack Jeffers by Falcon fifth-year Evan Dougherty, but 5-on-5 hockey continued.
The Lakers kept putting on shots in the first five minutes of the period, but Stoever never lost his eyes on the puck.
Bowling Green found their first opportunity with a turnover by right wing Adam Pitters, but Hesse made the save.
With six minutes remaining, Nathan Burke capitalized on the two-man advantage to make it 1-0.
The ice started to even up in the last five minutes as both teams put some shots on net.
The Lakers got their first power play with three minutes to go, but the Falcons’ strong PK unit prevented any goals.
The second period started with some 4-on-4 hockey, as Ryan O’Hara and Brandon Puricelli got roughing penalties late in the first.
At 6:49, BG captain Alex Barber scored with a rebound through traffic to make it 2-0.
The Lakers challenged this goal for too many men, but the goal call stood.
With six minutes left in the 2nd, Lake Superior prevented a shutout as Jeffers scored on a rebound to make it 2-1.
The second period came to a close with Bowling Green on the power play.
The Falcons converted on the power play early in the third as forward Taylor Schneider blasted the puck past Hesse to make it 3-1.
Another goal came early for the Falcons as BGSU winger Ryan O’Hara scored five hole to make it 4-1.
Just a minute later, BG defenseman Dalton Norris got his first collegiate goal of his career to make it 5-1.
The frenzy of goals on Hesse made the Lakers switch to senior Seth Eisele.
Lake Superior’s frustration turned into multiple power plays, and the Falcons was on the man advantage for most of the first half of the period.
The Lakers got a power play late in the third to desperately try to get another goal, but Bowling Green came out victorious.
The sweep this weekend is the second sweep of the season. They beat the Tommies in early November.
The Falcons tallied up three power play goals in the game, seeing improvement from their struggles on the advantage earlier in the season.
