To the Editor: Wood County library’s annual benefit set at Schedel Gardens

0

On July 17, the Wood County District Public Library (WCDPL) Foundation will be hosting its sixth annual
Library Benefit at Schedel Gardens in Elmore. This signature event raises funds to purchase new books,
audiobooks, large print books, and ebooks for the library. The importance of private fundraising for the
library remains high, particularly as state funding for libraries continues to decline (2014 funding is
at 1996 levels).
The Foundation continues to seek sponsors for the event. If you wish to help sponsor the event, contact
Michael Penrod at 419-352-5104. Also, a limited number of tickets ($100 each, $75 of which is tax
deductible) are still available at the library.
The event is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with garden tours starting at 4:30 p.m. (golf carts available). Come
enjoy good company in an idyllic setting with delicious hors d’oeuvres and fine beverages. Live and
silent auction items are available, including one-of-a-kind artwork, catered dinners, gift certificates
from local businesses, and a week’s vacation on the Mexican Riviera at Casa Arabia.
Casa Arabia is a palatial Moroccan-style villa located in the exclusive gated community of La Punta in
Manzanillo, Mexico. The villa comfortably accommodates up to four couples, each with their own suite
including full bath and outdoor terrace. The community of La Punta provides access to tennis courts, a
private beach, and a clubhouse with pool. Manzanillo offers many adventures including tours to ancient
ruins, sunset cruises, deep sea fishing, and more. For more information about this vacation location or
other items, visit wcdpl.org or contact Michael Penrod.
The Library Foundation is extremely grateful for all of the support the community has given the library
and this event over the years. This support makes a difference in the lives of children, new parents,
families and all of us by providing new books for learning, exploration, and leisure reading. We hope to
see you on July 17!
On behalf of the WCDPL Foundation Board,
Melissa Krieger
Board President
