An intoxicated man was taken to Wood County Hospital after he reportedly took off clothing in sub-zero
temperatures early this morning, leading police and a canine unit to search for him.
Maj. Tony Hetrick of the Bowling Green Police Division said that officers were called to a residence in
the 100 block of South Summit Street around 1:15 a.m. The resident reported there was an individual who
did not live there banging on the door.
Officers responding to the scene found articles of clothing – a pair of pants, boots, and a belt – laying
outside the door of the residence, apparently taken off by the individual. The clothes were found
covered with snow.
Temperatures at the time were -8 degrees Fahrenheit, and Hetrick said officers became concerned for the
safety of the subject in the extreme cold.
Using the ID found in the wallet in the pants, they initiated a search, and a canine unit was also called
in from Perrysburg Township to assist.
The subject, identified as Travis Robertson, 20, of East Wooster Street, was later found inside a
residence in the 300 block of East Wooster.
Hetrick said Robertson was in a highly intoxicated state, and that his core temperature had dropped to a
dangerous 93 degrees, raising concerns about hypothermia.
He was taken to Wood County Hospital for treatment.
Robertson was cited for criminal trespass, disorderly conduct/unable to care for self, and underage under
the influence.
