Skate for Hope, a premiere figure skating event to benefit breast cancer research and awareness, is
slated for May 3 at 5 p.m. at the Bowling Green State University Ice Arena.
The charity ice show has chosen the BGSU arena as the host venue for their 2014 season performance.
An informational meeting regarding how local and area skaters can get involved with the BG Skate for Hope
will be held this Saturday, Feb. 8, at 3:30 p.m. in the BGSU Ice Arena Lounge.
The show’s structure will be explained, along with the plan for local skating community involvement.
There will be a question and answer session.
A 3:30 public skate is also slated.
The show is managed by Skate for Hope founder Carolyn Bongirno, herself a breast cancer survivor. SFH is
a not-for-profit, charitable organization dedicated to the goal of eradicating breast cancer.
"Skate for Hope utilizes ice skating, a sport that epitomizes women’s strength, to bring attention,
resources and awareness to the fight against breast cancer," she explained.
The show is in its 10th year.
