Prep Roundup: Lake baseball holds off Eastwood (05-01-14)

Lake’s baseball team held on for a 5-4 win Wednesday over Eastwood to stay unbeaten in the Northern
Buckeye Conference.
Adam Duncan led Lake with a 3-for-3 effort including a double and two RBI.
Lake is 15-2 overall and 4-0 in the NBC.
Brad Ackerman and Nick Walsh were each 1-for-3 with a double for Lake.
Jake Schmeltz was 2-for-3 with a double for Eastwood, 0-3 in the NBC.
Perrysburg 10, Northview 0,
5 innings
In Sylvania, Mark Delas picked up the win and was 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI to lead
Perrysburg.
The Yellow Jackets, ranked seventh in Division I, improved to 11-2 overall and 4-1 in the Northern Lakes
League.
Steven Winzeler was 2-for-3 win an RBI for Perrysburg, while Zach Honsberger had a double and four RBI.

Otsego 12, Rossford 3
In Rossford, Jon Thomas, Deven Vollmar and Jon Brown combined for six hits and six RBI for Otsego (4-9,
3-1) in the NBC win.
Hunter Carson pitched six innings for the Knights, allowing three runs on two hits.
North Baltimore 8, Lakota 6
In North Baltimore, the Tigers scored five times in the third inning on the way to a Midland Athletic
League win.
NB’s top hitters were: Zach Stewart, two singles, double; Levi Newcomer, single, double; and Jack Frost,
three singles.
Top hitters for Lakota were: Madison Jaso, single, double; and Jordan Jaso, two singles.
NB is 5-10 overall and 2-2 in the MAL.
SOFTBALL
Eastwood 6, Lake 0
In Millbury, Sam Shirling struck out 10, allowing just two hits in Eastwood’s NBC win.
The Eagles (16-0, 4-0) scored four times in the first three innings.
Cassidy Rolf had three hits for Eastwood including a double and two triples, while Anna Rahrig, Marissa
Tudor and Morgan Getz each had two hits and an RBI.
Lake is 7-8, 2-3.
Rossford 13, Otsego 12
In Rossford, the Bulldogs held on to improve to 12-4 overall and 4-2 in the NBC.
Margo Jackson led Rossford going 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI.
Kylie Asmus was 3-for-5 with two doubles, a home run, and four RBI for Otsego. Tayler Bowen, Nicole
Thomas and Savannah Schwind each added two hits.
Anthony Wayne 3, BGHS 2
In Whitehouse, Anthony Wayne scored in the bottom of the ninth inning to secure the NLL win.
BG’s leading hitters were: Angie Hoffsis, two singles; and Kelsey Parker and Hanna Williford, single and
double each.
The Bobcats are 11-6 overall and 4-3 in the NLL.
Lakowta 8, North Baltimore 5
In North Baltimore, Lakota grabbed a 6-1 lead after three innings and held on for an MAL win.
Alaina Bickford and Morgan Gangwer each hit home runs for Lakota, Aspen Ray was 3-for-4 and six other
Raiders each had two hits.
NB’s Makayla Light was 3-for-3 with a double, while Jasmine Bretz and Kelcie Bean each added two hits.
Bretz had a home run and two RBI.
NB is 5-9, 1-3.

In Tontogany, Otsego beat Rossford and Woodmore and the Wildcats beat the Bulldogs in a NBC three-team
meet Tuesday.
Otsego’s Cole Gorski won the pole vault (15-0), 100 (11.42) and ran on the winning 400 relay team.

In Tontogany, Rossford’s Regan Clay won the high jump (4-10), 300 hurdles (48.28), and 200 (26.94) in an
NBC three-team meet Tuesday.

Despite the loss in an NLL meet, Bowling Green’s Cassidy Williford won 100 (12.9), 400 (62.3) and was on
the winning 400 and 800 relay teams.

Eastwood beat Otsego. Otsego’s winners were: Otsego’s event winners were; Zion Richardson 100 (13.58) and
200 (28.20); Jenna Lewis 400 (1:09.15); Kenzie Wilson high jump (4-8); Hailey Asmus shot put (29-4); and
the 400 meter relay team of Maureen Connelly, Felicity Jinnings, Richardson and Wilson.
