David Clair Schumacher, 87, of Findlay, died at 1:58 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at the
Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay.He was born on September 26, 1926 in Putman County, Ohio, to the late
David and Edna (Suter) Schumacher. Clair married Helen L. Iams on June 26, 1954 and she preceded him in
death on January 18, 2004.Surviving are his children, a daughter, Connie Schumacher, Norwalk, Connecticut,
three sons; Les Schumacher, Findlay; Tom Schumacher, North Baltimore, Ohio; Tim Schumacher, Louisville,
Kentucky; and one granddaughter, Katrina (Jared) Rittichier, Toledo, Ohio.He was preceded in death by a
brother, Chauncy Schumacher.Clair was a graduate of Pandora High School and attended Bluffton College until
he joined the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. After the Army, Clair was employed at Triplett in
Bluffton, Ohio and also the U.S. Postal Service in Cleveland and later in Findlay, retiring from the Findlay
Post Office where he was a window clerk. Clair also worked part-time at The Courier.He was a member of St.
Andrew’s United Methodist Church.One of Clair’s hobbies was amateur astronomy which included attending
"Star Parties" with his astronomy friends. He also enjoyed bicycling and was one of the founders
of the Hancock Handlebars Bicycle Club. He enjoyed traveling to Florida, Canada, Texas, Oregon, Washington
State and Switzerland, woodworking and painting pictures.Visitation will be held at KIRKPATRICK-BEHNKE
FUNERAL HOME, 500 LIMA AVENUE, FINDLAY, OHIO from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, December 26, 2013.The
funeral service will begin 10 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2013 at the funeral home with the Rev. Debbie
Kaylor officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.Memorials may be made to St. Andrew’s United
Methodist Church, 120 West Sandusky Street, or to the Bridge Hospice Care Center, 1900 South Main Street,
