Falcons have three volleyball players earn All-MAC honorsCLEVELAND – Three Bowling Green State
University volleyball players have earned All-Mid-American Conference honors.BG’s Lindsey Butterfield was a
member of the 18-player first team. The Falcons’ Kaitlyn Skinner was on the six-player second team, and
teammate Jelena Sunjic was on the six-player all-freshmen team.A senior, Butterfield is on the first-team
for the second time. She ranks sixth in the MAC with 3.35 kills per set in league action and hit a team-best
.246 with 11 aces.A senior, Skinner ranks among the top 20 in the country in blocks, leading the MAC with
1.45 per set.Sunjic averaged 2.84 kills per set, which ranks just outside the top 10 in the league.Falcons
add three gymnastsThree gymnasts have signed national letters of intent to attend Bowling Green State
University to continue their gymnastics and academic careers.Morgan Denlinger, Taylor Livingston and Shannon
Goniwiecha singed letters. As well, Kylie Bosco and McKenna Schoenberger will join the Falcons as
walk-ons.Denlinger, from Lancaster, Pa., is a member of the Prestige Gymnastics Club and attends Hempfield
High School. In 2012, she was a level 10 national qualifier and attained a level 10 regional vault title in
2011.Livingston, from Hartland, Mich., is a member of Geddert’s Twisters Gymnastics Club, and attends
Hartland High School. Livingston qualified to the 2013 Junior Olympic national championships, finishing 13th
in the all-around, and ninth on balance beam.Goniwiecha, from Rochester Hills, Mich., is a member of Oakland
Gymnastics and attends Stoney Creek High School. Goniwiecha qualified to the 2013 Junior Olympic national
championships, finishing 49th in the all-around.BGHS boys add gameThe Bowling Green High School boys
basketball team has added a game at Houston (Ohio) in Shelby County on Dec. 28.The freshmen game starts at
4:30 p.m. with the junior varsity and varsity games to follow.Owens soccer losesMELBOURNE, Fla. – Owens
Community College’s women’s soccer team was a 3-1 penalty-kick loser to Darton State Thursday in the NJCAA
Division I national tournament.The Express, Darton State and No. 5 Butler had all tied after their three
pool play matches. In order to decide who moves on to the NJCAA D-I Final Four, a one-day playoff was
necessary.Owens, ranked 13th, finished the season 17-2-2. Darton was ranked fourth. Thursday’s penalty-kick
playoff doesn’t count on the record for either team.Otsego outdoors club wins meetTONTOGANY – The Otsego
Outdoors Club won a four-team high school trap meet held recently at the Progressive Fishing Association in
Whitehouse.The shooters had two rounds of 25 targets, with the highest single-round total counting as their
score.Otsego’s top five shooters were: Bobby Tolles, 23; Brian Frail, 21; Nick Amos and Chris McCann, 20
each; and Mitchell Miles 19.Tolles was first overall in the meet, Frail tied for second, while Amos and
McCann tied for fourth.The club is holding a fundraiser with tickets at $10 each or three for $20. The prize
is a shotgun or $400 cash.Tickets will be sold at Otsego High School athletic events.The drawing is Dec. 21
