GRAND RAPIDS – A 18-year-old Swanton man was killed following an accident on U.S. 24 near the Henry-Lucas
County Road just before midnight Monday.
According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, Justin Herzig, driving a 2008 Chevy Malibu, was westbound on Route
24 when he drove left of center and struck a 2006 Freightliner semi truck driven by Paul Kendall Jr.
head-on.
Herzig was pronounced dead at the scene. Kendall, 46, of Detroit, was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital,
Maumee, with minor injuries. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
The patrol is continuing its investigation.
