Bowling Green firefighters Wednesday rescued a dog that had fallen into an icy pond in the city.
Fire personnel were called to the scene, at 360 Colony Lane, at 7:07 p.m. on the report of a dog, named
Copper, who had broken through the ice.
The animal had reportedly been out on the pond’s ice for 45 minutes, and only fell through when it was
called back by its owner.
Two firefighters entered the pond, breaking through the ice as they swam, and reached the dog as he was
going under the water.
All three were safely removed form the pond via a rope retrieval.
The dog was warmed with blankets, warm packs and warm saline bags, and left in the care of his owner.
