Sentinel show in seventh year

Whether it’s new windows, a new kitchen or a new HVAC system, vendors at the seventh annual Home, Garden
& RV Show can help you out.
The show, organized by the Sentinel-Tribune, will be April 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bowling Green
State University Stroh Center.
Banks Dishmon, advertising director for the Sentinel, said the show recognizes and promotes community
businesses that can handle home improvement projects. Vendors include banks, landscapers, roofers and
home designers.
An estimated 75 vendors are expected to set up for this year’s show. Many are new this year including
Anytime Fitness, Costco and Hempy Water.
Some longtime vendors will return, including Comfort Keepers, Quillen Brothers, United Home Comfort,
D&D Landscaping, Henry County Bank and North Branch Nursery.
Quillen Brothers, out of Bryan, focuses on windows, whether casement, bow, patio or sliding.
In business 18 years, “we’re not going anywhere. We’re family owned,” said Kathryn Pullen, marketing
director.
The company has participated in the home show since its inception.
Quillen is the exclusive rep for Rhino-Tuff glass windows, made in Perrysburg.
“It’s a great area,” Pullen said as to why they keep coming back for the show. “We have a great product
we stand behind 100 percent.”
Quillen does its sales by lead generation, not television or telemarketing.
“We don’t sell anything at the show, we promote our product,” said Pullen, adding that they will have
sample windows on hand.
The faith-based company yearly gives away one house of windows. Guests at the show can enter to win.
Rhino-Tuff glass has an unconditional breakage guarantee and a double life of the home guarantee.
“We’re here to build relationships. The company started with the philosophy that he (owner Robert
Quillen) was tired of people making money off their service departments,” Pullen said.
Quillen services its windows within an 80 mile radius of Bryan.
United Home Comfort has been in Bowling Green since 1980. It sells and services Lennox home comfort
sys-tems and WaterFurnace geothermal heating and cooling systems.
The company likes the Stroh because “you get a lot of traffic. We’re always trying to increase business.
The sheer volume of people is huge for us,” said Sherry LeVeck, office manager.
Participating for three or four years, LeVeck said some years they get no leads and some years five to
10.
While LeVeck hasn’t figured out this year’s giveaway, in the past they have held an old furnace contest
for people to sign up to win a new furnace.
“We hope to gain new customers,” she added. “We’re local. We’ve been here since 1980. There is a trust
factor here. We’re not going anyplace.”
The company also offers heating and furnace repair, HVAC repair, wind power systems and plumbing
maintenance.
Its geothermal systems are buried in the ground since the temperature below ground, regardless of climate
or season, stays fairly consistent all year. Geothermal systems are able to tap into this free energy
with an earth loop. It has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau.
Arnold’s Home Improvement, located in Toledo, has been in business since 1990 and will complete roof
repairs and replacements, install windows and siding and do bathroom and kitchen remodeling.
Owner Jason Arnold started the company when he was 18.
“We’re always looking for trade shows that meet our needs,” said Linda Kaminski, show manager, when asked
why they were coming to Bowling Green.
Arnold’s Home Improvement earned the title of Remodeler of the Year from the Home Builders Association of
Toledo for three consecutive years and has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau.
“We’re in the Top 500 remodelers in Northwest Ohio and Southeastern Michigan. We’re not a fly-by-night
company,” Kaminski said.
