Ascunce is a finalist for AP award


Bowling Green Sentinel-Tribune columnist Raul Ascunce is a finalist for an Ohio Associated Press Media Editors award.

Finalists were announced Monday, and the winners will be named during a ceremony in Columbus on July 21.

Ascunce is one of three finalists in the category of best columnist and is going up against two columnists at the Ironton Tribune.

First, second and third place will be announced at the ceremony.

Ascunce is a humor writer who chronicles home life and his travels. He writes an every-other week column for the Sentinel.

The Sentinel competed in Division I, newspapers with a daily circulation up to 7,999.
