TOLEDO – After 43 years of running the Glass City Record Show, founders Rebecca Locke-Gagnon and Steve Gagnon decided the October 2023 show would be their last. They sent an email to vendors announcing an end to the long-running show. Among the good wishes and stories, they received in return was an offer to keep the show alive.

“It’s been such a staple to record collectors and music lovers in the region, I couldn’t let it die,” said Jeremy D. Bonfiglio, an Ohio native and record vendor who runs shows in South Bend and Bloomington, Indiana, Benton Harbor, Michigan, and Owensboro, Kentucky. “I immediately contacted Steve and Becky about keeping the show going. After a few conversations, they knew I would be a good steward for the event they built from scratch.”

Bonfiglio promises that the new Glass City Record will continue the tradition of one of Ohio’s most popular music events when it returns 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Feb. 18 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 4256 Secor Road.

“There are vendors who have been doing this show for years who will be returning, as well as some new faces who set up at my other shows,” Bonfiglio said. “If you’ve never attended a record show but enjoy the experience of visiting record stores – sifting through bins, discovering artists, and engaging in music discussions – then this is a can’t-miss event.”

Key highlights include:

• Nearly 30 vendors from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, and Tennessee will occupy 47 tables, selling various music items. Explore pre-loved LPs, new vinyl releases, 45s, CDs, cassettes, record supplies, and more.

• All music genres are represented, strongly emphasizing classic rock, modern pop, metal, punk, garage, jazz, blues, R&B, and country.

• General admission begins at 10 a.m. and costs $2.

• Door prize drawings will be held at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. for the chance to win $25 shopping certificates and record products from BCW Supplies, the event’s sponsor, based in Middletown, Indiana.

• BCW is giving away tote bags to the first 75 customers at the door.

• Attendees are encouraged to bring cash, the preferred form of payment by all vendors. Select dealers may accept credit and debit cards, PayPal, Zelle, and Venmo.

• Future Glass City shows are scheduled for April 14, June 9, Aug. 11, and Nov. 10.
