The Wood County District Public Library has awarded Maintenance Supervisor Daniel Hergert the John M. Gibson Award for 2023.

Described as quietly reassuring, dependable, accommodating and helpful, Hergert was nominated by one nominator because “he’s one of the most dependable, hard-working, and reliable people on the WCDPL team. Always willing to lend a helping hand, his dedication to this library is clear in everything he does.” Nominators also said that Hergert excels at making the library a welcoming and safe environment through his work in events, keeping up the grounds and ensuring staff have what they need.

Since being established in 2005, the Gibson Award has been presented to 18 library employees. It is a tradition, and is given to library staff to recognize excellence in their work and in customer service.

Hergert was awarded the John M. Gibson Award during the library Staff Development Day on Sept. 29.
