Baked steak served in Bradner

BRADNER — The Bradner American Legion’s baked steak dinner will be served Sunday at the post, 209 W. Crocker St. Call in orders to 419-288-3634 for early pick-up, or stop by and eat at the post.

The menu includes green beans, mashed potatoes with or without gravy, dessert and a drink. Cost is $10. Serving starts at 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. or they run out.

Hear about new Abbott project in BG

Katie Thompson, executive director of the Bowling Green Economic Development Department, will be the speaker at the club’s Tuesday lunch meeting at noon at Bowling Green Country Club.

The topic will be the new Abbott Lab facility coming to BG and other development in the city.

As executive director, Thompson leads BGED and is responsible for industry attraction, retention and expansion.

Thompson also owns Eden Fashion Boutique in downtown. In addition, she, along with three other female entrepreneurs, created Firefly Nights.

Music topic of Kiwanis Club

The Bowling Green Kiwanis will meet on Thursday at the Wood County Senior Center, 140 S. Grove St. The public is welcome to attend. The meeting starts at noon and lunch is available starting at 11:30 a.m.

Rob Sloane, music director for new music at WBGU, 88.1 FM will talk about Choosing Music for the Northwest Ohio Community and Beyond. Sloane has been in this position since July 021. He is also an assistant teaching professor of American culture studies at Bowling Green State University since 2006.

Veterans get free dental care

A Bowling Green dental office will offer free care to veterans during Stars, Stripes and Smiles.

The event is set for Friday at Drs. Phipps, Levin & Hebeka’s office, 970 W. Wooster St., in the Wood County Hospital office building.

Doctors and staff are volunteering to treat veterans, who can choose between a free dental cleaning, filling or tooth extraction.

Registration is first come, first serve on the day of the event between 8 and 10 a.m. Veterans should be an updated medication list and arrive in good health.

Learn how to make ricotta at the library

Join the Wood County District Public Library and the Wood County Park District for Ricotta Cheesemaking 101 on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Carter House.

Corine Gordon from the Wood County Park District will demonstrate how to make ricotta cheese during this class.

Owens offers motorcycle training courses

PERRYSBURG — Owens Community College’s Workforce and Community Services is offering Motorcycle Safety Training courses until mid-October.

No experience is necessary. The only requirement is a valid two-wheel temporary instruction permit identification card at the beginning of the class.

Students will be required to complete four hours in the classroom and then 12 hours of riding, all on campus. Motorcycles are provided and students are required to provide their gear.

Once completed, students earn a 60-day BMV skill test waiver for a motorcycle endorsement.
