ROSSFORD — On Monday, Rossford boys tennis got its first team win of the season, defeating visiting Ayersville, 4-1.

At first singles, Rossford’s Justin Hire improved to 4-3 after defeating Ben Weisgerber, 6-0, 6-0. Hire has wins over opponents from Fostoria, Clay and Wauseon, but losses to Bryan, Perrysburg, and Archbold players.

At second singles, Rossford’s Zach Boggs defeated Drew Boyd, 6-0, 6-1 and at third singles Rossford’s Logan Bieganowski came from being down one set to beat Cody Hammersmith, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.

At first doubles, Ayersville players Jeremiah Joseph and Lucas Dennis defeated Bulldogs Chlore Madden and Allie Misko, 6-1, 6-2. Rossford won second doubles by forfeit.

Next year when Maumee and Oak Harbor come into the Northern Buckeye Conference, there will be four schools that have tennis along with Rossford and Fostoria.

Coaches from the four schools that have tennis are seeking to get tennis started at one of the other four schools, Eastwood, Lake, Woodmore, or Otsego because the NBC requires five schools to sanction the sport for league play.
