James L. Garner, Sr., age 64, of Bloomdale, Ohio passed away peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at the Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. He was born on March 8, 1959, in Fremont, Ohio to the late Elvon & Elsie (Craig) Garner, Sr.
Surviving Jim is his son, James (Serina) Garner, Jr. of Wayne; daughters, Savanna(h) (Blake) Hull of Wayne, Stephanie Garner of North Baltimore, Laurie Walker of Augusta, GA; brother, Mike (Sue) Garner of Jerry City; sisters, Sue (Jerry) Keaton of Cygnet, Barb (Rick) Galbraith of Bloomdale, Annette (Bob) Jordan of Bloomdale, Diane (Rick) Ward of Luckey; and many grandchildren & great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvon & Elsie; brothers, Bob Biller, Elvon Garner, Jr; and brother-in-law, Jeff Markel.
Jim worked as a Mechanic for many years and was owner/operator of J & J Repair. Serving the Lord was a very important part of Jim’s life, as he was a member of the Praise Chapel Church in North Baltimore, faithfully read his bible, and enjoyed gospel music. Among many other hobbies, Jim enjoyed watching races in Norwalk, especially Night Under the Fire Races, listening to Bluegrass music, and his all time favorite restaurant was Waffle House. His greatest love in life, though, were spending time with his grandchildren and attending all their activities, as they were the center of his life.
Friends will be received from 4-8 PM on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio, where a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023, at 11 AM with Pastor Norman Wheeler officiating.
