COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A central Ohio woman has been
sentenced to 4 ½ years in prison for a hit-and-run crash last year that
killed a teacher who was riding a bicycle.
Mary Kathryn Paul had
faced a maximum of six years after pleading guilty to an involuntary
manslaughter charge in a crash that killed 64-year-old Bob Lennon, a
popular teacher and running coach at St. Francis DeSales High School in
Columbus. She was sentenced Monday.
The 36-year-old Paul also pleaded guilty last year to failing to stop after an accident.
Lennon was bicycling in Delaware County in September when he was struck by a passing driver and left
behind.
Paul, who is diabetic and suffers from poor eyesight, said she wasn’t wearing her glasses and didn’t know
what she hit.
