An open house for retiring North Bal-timore Superinten-dent Marlene North was held Wednesday. North is
retiring at the end of this month with 31 years in education, 22 in North Baltimore. She serv-ed 18
years as the Powell Elementary principal and the last nearly five years as superintendent. She said what
she’ll miss most is the contact with students and staff.
North has a daughter in school in North Baltimore and her husband also works for the district, so she
will remain in the village and already is contemplating volunteering in the schools.
