On October 23, 2009 at 6:45 p.m., Bernardo Soto, Jr., of Grand Rapids, took his last breath to be with
the Lord.
Ben was born April 28, 1943 in Bowling Green to the late Bernardo Sr. and Christine (Cantu) Soto.
He started his work at an early age at Jeffers Produce Farm and later at McCurdy Produce Farm driving
semis, retiring in the early 2000s.
Ben was a devoted father and grandfather and is lovingly survived by son, Benny (Janet Rohdy) Soto, Grand
Rapids; daughters, Terrianna Golighty, Eastover, South Carolina and Kathy (Dale) Caughhorn-Jerbi,
Argallite, Kentucky; grandchildren, Kayle (Dustin), Heather, Melissa, Hunter, Austin and Brandy;
brothers, Emilio (Mick) Soto, Weston, Adam (Wendy) Soto, Grand Rapids and Ruben Soto, Weston; sisters,
Mary (Pete) Mendieta, Portage, Jane (Joe) Mendieta, Apache Junction, Arizona, Carol (Mike) DeLaCruz,
Hoytville, Elida (Marvin) Wheeler, Weston and Susie Soto, Weston; his special nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by sister, Helen Soto and brother, David Soto.
Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Wright-Hobbs Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, where
scripture services will be held at 8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m.,
Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Grand Rapids, with the Rev. David Tscherne
presiding. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to the benevolence of the
family.
