On March 20, Heritage Corner hosted a presentation titled "Battle of the Bulge" given by
Heritage resident Elmer Girten, 92.
The Heritage Corner and Bowling Green communities were invited to listen to Girten’s personal account of
the battle and stories that enhanced the audience’s knowledge of this WWII battle that began in December
1944.
Girten provided a personal journal, sketch pad, poems, and documents that he has kept from the events in
1945. He also played an instrument in General Patton’s 90th Infantry Division Band.
Girten’s presentation shared the rich history that is held by very few others still living today.
