Six new members were welcomed
to the Wood County Committee on Aging Governing Board during its organizational meeting and installation
ceremony on Wednesday at the Wood County Senior Center in Bowling Green.Joining the board for the first time
are Becky Bhaer, Yolanda "Loni" Cantu and Sue Hess, all of Bowling Green; Harold Bower, from North
Baltimore; Sue Hart-Douglas, Walbridge; and Rebecca Kidd of Cygnet.Also installed to new terms were
returning board members Thomas Bamburowski. Laura Keller and Colleen Smith, all of Bowling Green.
Bamburowski is Executive Committee secretary and chairman of the WCCOA Board Personnel Committee. Smith is
the Executive Committee’s current treasurer.Bhaer, a former business teacher at North Baltimore High School,
served as Wood County clerk of courts for over 20 years. She is also a member of the Wood County District
Public Library Board of Trustees and past treasurer of the Wood County Historical Society, as well as a
member of the Zonta Club and Bowling Green Women’s Club.Bower served on the North Baltimore Village Council
for 27 years, 12 years as president. He was principal of Otsego and Grand Rapids Elementary Schools, past
principal of Elmwood High School and Elmwood’s former superintendent. He previously taught social studies in
Grand Rapids, Leipsic, and North Baltimore. Bower is active in Findlay University Symphonic Band and the
Bowling Green Community Band.Cantu was a waitress at a BG restaurant for 23 years, worked as cook at Blakely
Care Center, and was a substitute teacher in the Wood County Schools and the Migrant Center. Fluent in
Spanish, she is active at the Bowling Green senior center.Hart-Douglas is currently an R.N. case manager for
Worker’s Compensation at AdvoCare MCO Cleveland. She was formerly employed at Mercy Health Partners as
hospital based nurse and case manager for discharge planning and also serves as a council member for the
Village of Walbridge. She brings experience in insurance regulations and Medicare.Hess was employed as a
school teacher for 34 years. She is a member of the Bowling Green Women’s Club, on the foundation board of
the United Woman Educators, and was the founding president of Omega Phi Alpha (service sorority) at BGSU.
Hess is described as an experienced organizer, baker and people person.Kidd worked in various aspects of the
Dana Corporation, including customer service, project team manager, office manager and relocation director.
She volunteered at Birchaven Village and the North Baltimore Senior Center, and is experienced in
negotiating contracts, preparing legal documents and chairing committees.Smith was an employee of the City
of Bowling Green for 30 years including municipal administrator. She is a member of Alpha Zeta Master
Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, Wood County Hospital Foundation., Wood County Historical Society, Bowling Green
Kiwanis Club and BG Downtown Foundation.Bamburowski is a local attorney and past court magistrate as well as
member and past president of Kiwanis, and past president and life member of the Wood County Historical
Society. Also a member of Wood County Airport Authority Board, he has experience in elder law, volunteerism,
and personnel matters.Keller is northwest Ohio regional coordinator of the Ohio Department of Education’s
"Race to the Top." She served as superintendent and principal at Old Fort and principal at both
Gibsonburg and Springfield High School. She previously taught English and speech and was a school counselor.
She has been a member of Lion’s Club and Rotary Club.
