Healing ministry begins
HASKINS - Beginning this Sunday, St. Paul Lutheran Church, located on Ohio 582, east of Haskins, will offer its new healing ministry service with members and friends. During the 10:15 a.m. worship service on the fourth Sunday of each month, the ministry will offer laying on of hands and the anointing of oil to those in attendance. The service will be held during Holy Communion.
This is a new ministry for the church and the public is invited to attend.
HASKINS - All-you-can-eat pancakes, whole hog sausage, apple sausage and beverage will be served up March 1 at the Haskins Community Church "Pancake Day."
The meals will be served from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4-7 p.m. at the church, 209 W. Main St., Haskins. Adult meals are $8, with children ages 4-10 eating for $2. Those 3 and under are free.
There will also be a bake sale held.
Proceeds will help fund the church's 2014 Back Bay Mission trip.
An elevator is on the east side of the building.
Dinner concert planned at
'Truck Stop Ministries'
NORTH BALTIMORE - Truck Stop Ministries, Inc., is planning a "Dinner Concert" on March 9 featuring Cornerstone Gospel Quartet. It will be held at the Iron Skillet Restaurant, located at the Petro Truck Stop, 12900 Deshler Road.
Dinner will be served at 5 p.m. The concert follows at 6 p.m.
Competition in chili, desserts
PEMBERVILLE - First United Presbyterian Church, 103 Perry St., Pemberville, will hold its annual "Chile and Dessert Cook Off" on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m.
The best chili and dessert will be decided by cash voting. All proceeds will benefit the church's mission trip fund.
'Good News & Amen'
NORTH BALTIMORE - St. Luke's Lutheran Church in North Baltimore will host a "Good News & Amen" event on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The event will include several Lutheran congregations in Northwest Ohio. The session will cover the various ways churches are involved in the community.
'Priceless Pancakes' served
PEMBERVILLE - "Priceless Pancakes," a free community pancake breakfast, will be served Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church, 106 Perry, Pemberville.
The public is invited. Carryouts available and encouraged.
Lenten programs will be featured next Friday. Ash Wednesday is March 5 and is the traditional beginning of the season of Lent leading up to Easter. Area churches which would like their Ash Wednesday and/or Lenten services included should submit them to Bill Ryan, religion editor, by noon on Wednesday. i
