JD Pooley (left) encourages Joe Boyle (center) at the start of the Winter Soldier Marathon Sunday morning on Enterprise Street in Bowling Green. The course was a 8.5 mile loop through the streets of Bowling Green. More than 50 runners started the run with Boyle and 30 runners finished the final loop with him. Eight people, including Boyle, finished the marathon. Boyle, a 39-year-old father of three who's battling metastasized kidney cancer, has been accepted into a nationwide trial for a new immunotherapy drug, and the treatment is set to begin Feb. 14 at the Cleveland Clinic.
