Andy Tracy promoted by Phillies
INDIAN WELLS, Calif. — Andy Tracy has been promoted to the position of minor league hitting coordinator by the Philadelphia Phillies.
A former standout at Bowling Green High School and Bowling Green State University, the 38-year-old Tracy was the manager of the Phillies’ short-season Class A Williamsport team during the summer. It was his first managing job after retiring as a player.
“It’s a pretty big step, but (player development director) Joe Jordan was real adamant about his ability to grow in that spot. He pushed him pretty hard,” Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro said about Tracy.

BG men’s soccer loses
AKRON — Bowling Green’s men’s soccer team was a 2-0 loser Friday to Akron in the semifinals of the Mid-American Conference tournament.
The Zips scored at 39:50 and 41:19 of the first half.
Michael Wiest had six saves for the Falcons, who were out-shot, 33-2.
Akron, the top-ranked team in the country, is 16-1-2. BG finished 8-9-3.

Falcon cross country competes
MADISON. Wis. – Bowling Green’s men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Friday.
In the men’s race, BG finished 28th.
BG’s top five were: Tim Jurick, 170th, 35:05; Tom Hipwell, 173rd, 35:11; Joe Van Bolderen, 182nd, 35:36; Perry Fraylock, 186th, 35:54; and Jeremy Richard, 188th, 36:06.
In the women’s race, BG finished 17th with 516 points.
BG’s top five were: Jasmine Redman, 80th, 1:59; Perrysburg High School graduate Andrea Alt, 103rd, 22:15; Abby Koch, 106th, 22:15; Kendra Kezur, 110th, 22:23; and Rebecca Rae, 117th, 22:27.

State championship game to be
televised on tape-delay today
COLUMBUS — The Perrysburg-Mason Division I girls soccer championship game will be televised on tape delay today by Time Warner Cable.
The games will be shown on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel 311/1311 HD statewide on tape delay starting at noon.

Owens men’s basketball wins
James Kelly opened the game with back-to-back-to-back dunks as the Owens Community College men’s basketball team cruised to an 88-69 win Friday over Kellogg Community College on the opening night of the Owens Tip Off Classic.
Kelly, who ended up only playing 16 minutes due to foul trouble, finished with 14 points, five rebounds, five steals and one assist. Andy Bachman added 14 points, eight rebounds, three steals and two assists.
The Express, 3-2, face Jackson Community College at 8 tonight as part of the Tip Off Classic.
