Hammond joins NHL Senators
OTTAWA, Ontario – Former Bowling Green Falcon goalie Andrew Hammond was recalled on an emergency basis
Wednesday by the National Hockey League’s Ottawa Senators.
The 26-year-old had been playing for the Binghamton Senators, Ottawa’s affiliate in the American Hockey
League.
Hammond is tied for 10th in the AHL with 17 wins this season. He has a 17-12-3 record, a 3.02
goals-against average and a .903 save percentage in 33 games.
He had his first pro shutout Feb. 15 with 29 saves in an 8-0 win over Worcester.
Hammond, a four-year standout for the Falcons, signed a two-year contract with Ottawa last March.
He’s expected to be Ottawa’s backup goalie tonight when it hosts the Detroit Red Wings.
Craig Anderson, Ottawa’s No. 1 goalie, is at home with his wife as they are expecting the birth of a
child.
Falcons earn scholar-athlete honors
CLEVELAND – Bowling Green State University’s Andrew Kubuski and Megan Harrington have earned Mid-American
Conference scholar-athlete of the week awards.
A senior baseball player, Kubuski holds a 3.66 grade-point average as a mild to moderate intervention
specialist major, He went 5-for-12 over the weekend to extend his team-leading batting average to .417.

A senior gymnast, Harrington has a 3.74 grade-point average in communications/tourism, leisure and event
planning. She scored a 38.900 in the all-around as Bowling Green defeated Northern Illinois
Owens men beat Cuyahoga CC
CLEVELAND – Bikramjit Gill scored 29 points and recorded 13 rebounds, leading Owens Community College’s
men’s basketball team to a 87-72 win over Cuyahoga Community College Wednesday night.
John Murry added 25 points for Owens, 23-5 overall and 10-1 in the Ohio Community College Athletic
Conference.
Gill was honored as the OCCAC men’s basketball player of the week, averaging 22.5 points, 9.5 rebounds,
four blocks, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game last week. I
Owens women win title
CLEVELAND – Owens Community College’s 86-42 win over Cuyahoga Community College Wednesday night earned
the Express the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference title.
Kamilah Carter led the fifth-ranked Express with 21 points, while Ashley Tunstall added 20 points and 12
rebounds.
The Express have won back-to-back OCCAC titles, including three of the last four.
Owens has won six games in a row and is 24-2 overall and 10-1 in the OCCAC.
