BG swimmers down MSU
EAST LANSING, Mich. — The Bowling Green State University swimming team rallied to beat Michigan State,
150-144 Friday.
After giving up 32 diving points, the Falcons trailed 135-123 with two events remaining.
BG had three of the top four finishers in the 200 individual medley with Joelle Scheps winning the event
in 2:08.11.
BG’s Victoria Griffin, Kayla Effinger, Hannah Newman and Brittany Szekely combined to win the 200
freestyle relay in 1:34.94 to close out the meet.
The Falcons won eight of the 14 swimming events, finishing one-two in three events.
Griffin also won the 100 (51.63) and 200 (1:51.51) freestyles, Maya Skorupski won the 100 (57.87) and 200
(2:08.12) backstroke, Scheps added a win in the 100 butterfly (57.02), and Szekely won the 50 freestyle
(23.96).
BG is 2-3 in dual meets.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team beat Western Michigan,
192.825-191.450 in the Mid-American Conference opener Friday.
BG’s Alyssa Nocella (9.775) won the vault and the all-around (38.850), and the Falcons’ depth helped win
the meet.
BG is 1-2 overall.
Babers watches bowl game
It was incorrectly reported in Friday’s Sentinel-Tribune that new BGSU football coach Dino Babers has
watched the Falcons-Northern Illinois game in person.
