BGSU kicker Tyler Tate on Groza watch list
Bowling Green State University redshirt junior Tyler Tate is one of 30 on the watch list for the 2014 Lou
Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award.
Last season, Tate converted 18-of-22 field goals and 59-of-61 extra points, just behind Brian Leaver and
Shaun Suisham’s all-time records for a single season.
Falcon golfer to compete in amateur championship
Bowling Green State University junior Lily Bartell was invited to take part in the North & South
Women’s Amateur Championship July 14-19th at the Pinehurst No. 8 Golf Course in Pinehurst, N.C.
Entries to the event are only open to female amateur golfers who have a handicap index of 5.0 or less.

The tournament will consist of three rounds of stroke play from July 15-17, followed by four rounds of
match play on July 18-20. Eight of the last 12 event champions are on the LPGA Tour.
Eastwood’s Shirling to play softball at Lourdes
Samantha Shirling of Millbury has signed a letter of intent to play softball for Lourdes University
beginning with the 2015 season.
The right-handed pitcher posted a 27-2 record in her career at Eastwood High School, including a 22-2
mark as a senior. The Eagles tallied a 56-6 record overall during her two seasons with the varsity
squad.
BG to host youth tennis clinic
Bowling Green Community Tennis Association will hold a tennis skills clinic for children ages 9-12 from 7
to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning July 16.
The five-week clinic at Bowling Green High School runs until Aug. 13 and will cover fundamentals and
competition skills. Low compression orange balls, green balls and yellow tennis balls will be used and a
few loaner rackets are available.
