Falcon baseball tops Toledo
TOLEDO – Brandon Howard’s two-run, two-out triple in the 10th inning Wednesday gave Bowling Green a 5-3
win over Toledo in a nonconference baseball game.
The hit scored Andrew Kubuski, who hit into a fielder’s choice; and Patrick Lancaster, who walked.
Five different players had a hit for BG, 12-17 overall. Toledo is 12-18.
Falcon relievers Tony Landi, Johnny Crawford and Trevor Blaylock held Toledo (12-18) scoreless on two
hits over the final seven innings. They struck out four and walked four.
Also Wednesday, BG’s T.J. Losby was named the Mid-American Conference male scholar-athlete of the week,
the conference announced.
Losby was 8-for-12 with four RBI last weekend as the Falcons took two out of three games from Western
Michigan. He has a 3.242 grade-point average in accounting.
BG women receive vote
Bowling Green’s women’s basketball team received one point in the final USA Today poll announced
Wednesday.

Owens players honored
Three Owens Community College athletes were honored by the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference
Wednesday.
Tyler Huth was the baseball pitcher of the week. The freshman right-hander was 2-0, allowing six hits and
no runs in 14 2/3 innings.
In softball, Tori Weidinger was the player of the week and Lesley Ducat was the pitcher of the week.
Weidinger hit .478 with three home runs and 11 RBI last week.
Ducat was 4-0. She allowed eight runs (seven earned) and 22 hits in 19 innings. She struck out 19 and
walked two.
Owens men’s golf wins
ANGOLA, Ind. – Owens Community College’s golf team, ranked first nationally, won the A.C. Eddy
Invitational Wednesday at Zollner Golf Course.
The Express shot an 11-under-par 277 to win by 16 strokes.
Owens’ Brandon Hoelzer and Harrison Long were co-medalists with 4-under-68s, one stroke ahead of teammate
Phillippe Weppernig. Owens Dru Hein shot a 72 to tie for ninth.
Genoa has opening for head football coach
GENOA – Genoa is taking applications for the position of head varsity football coach.
Teaching positions may be available.
Interested applicants should send a cover letter, résumé and references to Mike Thomas, athletics
director, Genoa High School, 2980 North Clay Center Road, Genoa, 43430.
The deadline is April 21.
BG Rifle Team loses
The Bowling Green Rifle Team was a 1,393-1,365 loser to Tiffin.
BG’s scores were: Bob Schweibert, 290; Dan Altman, 280; Mike Sayen, 278; Russ France, 265; and Jerry
Milnor, 252.
