Falcon hockey receives votes in national polls
Bowling Green received votes this week in both national college hockey polls.
The Falcons were tied for 25th with six points in the U.S. College Hockey Online poll. BG had one vote in
the poll last week.
BG received three votes to tie for 19th place in the USA Today/"USA Hockey Magazine" poll. The
Falcons received no votes in the poll last week.
The Falcons, who are idle this weekend, are 12-9-5 overall and 9-6-3 in the Western Collegiate Hockey
Association. BG is second in the league.
Ontario forward commits to Falcon hockey
Joe McKeown, a forward for the Wellington Dukes in the Ontario Junior Hockey League, has verbally
committed to play collegiately at Bowling Green.
It hasn’t been decided when the 6-foot-1, 180-pounder will join the Falcon program.
McKeown has 10 goals and 10 assists, including four power-play goals, in 36 games this season. He had 14
goals and 12 assists in 58 games last season, with five of the goals coming on the power play.
McKeown turns 20 in September and is from Campbellford, Ontario.
He’s the 13th recruit who will join the Falcons for the 2014-15, 2015-16 or 2016-17 seasons. The others
consist of eight forwards, three defensemen and one goalie.
At least six of the recruits will join the Falcons next season. – GORDON
Lake boys move up to 6th
COLUMBUS – Lake moved up three places to sixth in the weekly Associated Press Division II boys basketball
poll announced Monday night.
The Flyers saw their point total increase to 92 in the media voting, up from 47 a week ago. However, Lake
lost the first-place vote it had a week ago.
Lake is 11-0 overall and 5-0 in the Northern Buckeye Conference.
In Division I, Perrysburg was 11th with 21 points. The Yellow Jackets were 10th with 44 points last week.

Perrysburg, which lost to Southview Friday, is 9-1 overall and 5-1 in the Northern Lakes League.
BGHS hockey receives votes
Bowling Green remained among the teams receiving votes in the latest state high school hockey coaches
poll announced Monday night.
BG is 10-7-1 overall.
