Jakubowski wins singles tourney at Al-Mar

Steve Jakubowski defeated Mike Shaw 256-187 in the title match of the stepladder finals Sunday in the
February Scorpion singles tournament held at Al-Mar Lanes.
The series features different lane dressing patterns used in the Professional Bowlers Association.
Jakubowski, entered the stepladder as the second seed and advanced to the title match with a 224-199 win
over Aaron Richardson.
Jakubowski earned $80 for his win, while Shaw pocketed $50. Richardson won the first match over Paul
Schmich 187-137 to advance in the opening match. They earned $30 and $20, respectively.
Shaw rolled the high game of the day with his opening 268 and maintained his lead to earn the top seed,
shooting 935 for the four games. Jakubowski opened with a 245 and finished with a 234 for an 889 total.
Brent Norris rolled a 267 and Dustin Zachariah had a 256, but neither advanced to the stepladder.
USBC awards: Roger Pierstorff came within two pins of perfection last Wednesday in the American League at
Al-Mar. He finished with a 298 game for a 720 series. He earned a United States Bowling Congress
11-in-a-row award.
League ‘lites: Adam Dilsaver, also in the American League was very consistent, rolling games of 269, 247
and 234 for a fine 750 series on last Wednesday.
Youth of the Week: Youth bowlers who bowled the most pins over their average in any one game last week,
with pins over, were: Bantam/Prep, Steven DiCarlo, 52; Carson Charville, 41; Jena Kirian, 53; Khloey
Hutton, 41.
Surviving the game: The seven bowlers eliminated for Week 16 in Al-Mar’s "Surviving the Game"
with league and pins under average were: Steve Burton, Sentinel Classic, 76; Bill Schumacher, American,
73; Tracy Backus, Randy Miller Memorial, 71; Brandi Wallace, Ladies Major, 64; Brian Lorenz, American,
55; Dana Kratzer, American, 53; and Betty Winnick, Ladies Major 51.
