To the Editor: Save green space in downtown

0

I applaud John Calderonello for his excellent letter (June 18, 2014) proposing that the green space at
the southwest corner of Wooster and Church become Bowling Green’s "Central Park."
It has been over a year since I went to City Council to advocate for this use of this green space and
wrote a letter to the Sentinel to give additional support. It makes good sense to promote this open
space at which Bowling Green residents and others can enjoy a park-like environment for occasional
music, art exhibits, and other cultural activities as well as a peaceful place to relax during a
downtown work day or a pause between errands.
Putting a new City Building in this space, as some would like, is an unnecessary intrusion into the
openness, even though some persons probably think that both the building and the park can be located
there. Isn’t it more desirable to approve this open green space than to construct a building there? I
implore the members of City Council to vote for the green space.
