To the Editor: River a spectacular scene

0

My wife and I walk the trail at Side Cut Park in Maumee several times through out the year. Sunday we
were rewarded with one of the more spectacular experiences we have ever seen there. The river was
flowing in a meandering channel between mountains of ice that gleamed in the morning sun. It was thick
with crushed ice that hissed as it flowed.
Ducks and geese swam among the ice. The most amazing thing was the color of the water. It wasn’t brown
with silt as it usually is this time of year.
If you have a chance, try and see the Maumee River before rain or a rapid thaw turns it muddy again.
