To the Editor: Postal carriers thanked for annual food drive

0

On May 10, there was a "Stamp Out Hunger" postal carrier food drive. Our fine BG Post Office
and its dedicated carriers went above and beyond their daily routine of delivering mail. They had an
extra duty to pick up food that all our caring friends left by the mailbox. It never ceases to amaze me
how generous and giving our BG friends are. You dig deep in your pockets to help those less fortunate
and we truly appreciate that. Last year, we got 4,450 pounds of food. This year, we got 6,260 pounds!
You really came through at a time when our shelves were getting low. Special thanks to Deb Knowlton for
arranging to have extra people pick up food from the carriers and bring it to us. Her son Nick, Don S.
and Kathy K. all picked up. Also,
thanks to Roosevelt, Bill E. and Tony K., and NWCCC for sending us four strong guys to help. It is a lot
of work, but so satisfying and enjoyable!
I apologize for being so late with this letter.
God bless you all for pitching in for BG Christian Food Pantry!
