To the Editor: CRC appreciates help with residential unit

0

I’m writing to express my gratitude for all of the assistance and support Children’s Resource Center
(CRC) received during our Residential Unit renovation and expansion project. Within days of opening, we
were at our capacity of eight (8) residents; children and youth who were experiencing troubling and
traumatic events, some chronic, some acute. The residential unit has served between 70 and 85 youth
yearly without interruption for the past 35 years. CRC has the Wood County community to thank for the
improvement of this service.
Funding for the $300,000 project came from Ohio Mental Health and Addiction Services (OMHAS) and Wood
County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Board (WCADAMHS). OMHAS was able to fund half of the
cost of the project with the expectation that we would match those funds. WCADAMHS Board, understanding
the dire need for the service, stepped up and provided the match at $150,000. Tax Payer Mental Health
and Addiction Levy dollars through WCADAMHS improves the quality and saves lives of our youth. Thank you
Wood County!
Others who were instrumental in the success of obtaining the funds for the renovation and expansion by
writing letters of support were the Wood County Commissioners, Wood County Juvenile Court, Wood County
Job and Family Services, and Wood County Educational Service Center. Bowling Green State University
donated eight bedrooms of furniture, Two Men and a Truck donated their time and truck to move the
furniture to our facility and Black Swamp Quilters donated quilts to be given to our residents. And
thank you to the Sentinel Tribune for the great article.
Wood County has always supported services to improve the quality of life for those in need. Your
generosity is key to our children and youth growing to be successful adults. Thank you, not only for
your care and support, but also your donations and funding for children and youth in Wood County. It is
truly a privilege to live and work is this community.
