COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Authorities are urging extra vigilance for parents of small children after the
accidental drownings of toddlers in three separate central Ohio incidents last weekend.
On Saturday, 4-year-old Sinaia Moore died in a backyard pool at a birthday party in Columbus. Also on
Saturday, 4-year-old Sebastion Lee was found in a pond at his family’s farm north of Newark in Licking
County.
And then on Sunday in Licking County, 4-year-old Colton Angus was found dead in the Clear Fork of the
Licking River north of Newark. He had been visiting a relative’s house.
Elissa James of the Central Ohio YMCA tells The Columbus Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1p3BABt ) that constant
supervision is essential to keeping children safe near water.
James says drowning usually happens “quickly and silently.”
