BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio (AP) — An anonymous donor is making the holidays merrier for shoppers with Christmas gifts on layaway at an Ohio store.

The Springfield News-Sun and WHIO-TV report that a man provided $25,000 in gift cards to pay off more than 100 layaway accounts at a Walmart in Bellefontaine, 50 miles northwest of Columbus. The donations went toward accounts that included toys and already were partly paid.

One lucky shopper, Stefanie Evans, says she has eight children to gets gifts for and can't put her gratitude into words.

The store manager says some customers who benefited from the generosity decided to pay it forward by making payments toward other layaway accounts.

The manager says employees believe the donor is a man who paid off a similar amount for layaway accounts last year.
