COSHOCTON, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a 63-year-old hunter died after accidentally shooting himself on the first day of the weeklong deer-gun season in Ohio.

The man, whose name hasn't been released, was found dead in a tree stand Monday morning in Coshocton County, northeast of Columbus. A deputy said he was hunting on his own property.

The county sheriff's office and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources are continuing to investigate.

The annual seven-day gun season for deer hunting runs through Sunday.
