COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A central Ohio doctor sentenced to
more than 36 years in prison last year for causing the death of an
expectant mother with a heroin overdose has been stripped of his medical
license.
The state medical board on Wednesday said it revoked the
license of 45-year-old Ali Salim. He had pleaded guilty last year to
two counts of involuntary manslaughter for the 2012 deaths of Deanna
Ballman and her nearly full-term child in Delaware County, near
Columbus.
The 23-year-old Ballman was found dead in the backseat
of her car on a rural road a few miles from Salim’s house the day after
she answered an online ad that Salim had placed soliciting sex.
Prosecutors said Salim injected her with heroin.
Salim has appealed the length of his prison term.
