SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — A man who saved an 11-year-oldboy says the youngster was
pleading for help after falling through iceon Thanksgiving in Macomb County.Patrick LaRose tells the
Detroit Free Press (http://on.freep.com/1j1yoEj ) that he was
making coffee and looking out a window at a ShelbyTownship apartment complex when he saw the boy go
through ice on a10-acre lake.LaRose says the boy yelled, "Please, don’t let medie!" LaRose
extended a rake to the boy but fell through ice, too.LaRose broke his way through more ice and moved
toward shore with theboy. They finally got up in shallow water and are OK.LaRose haslived elsewhere but
is back in the Detroit area and unemployed. Hewonders why he returned but now thinks he knows
