COSHOCTON, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio driver who killed a woman when he crashed his SUV into two parked cars
last year has been sentenced to 17 months in prison.
Twenty-nine-year-old Charles Miller had pleaded guilty in March to vehicular manslaughter, driving while
under suspension, speeding and failure to control. All are misdemeanors. A felony charge of vehicular
homicide was dropped in exchange for his pleas.
Coshocton County deputies say Miller drove his SUV into the passenger side of a Toyota Prius in Coshocton
on Sept. 17. Sixty-eight-year-old Mary Baldwin was killed, and her 72-year-old husband George Baldwin
was seriously injured.
Deputies said the SUV was moving faster than 60 mph downhill after the brakes failed. Miller was driving
without a license, which violated his probation on previous charges.
He apologized in court Monday.
