Warren E. Ruff, 88, residing in Haskins, OH, passed away early Saturday morning on his birthday, February
8, 2014 after a lengthy illness.
Warren was born on February 8, 1926 in Sandusky, OH, to the late Henry A. and Laura E. (Windisch) Ruff.

Warren was a 1948 graduate of Sandusky High School.
He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, who proudly served his country in Germany during WWII as a T-4 Sgt. in
Radio Communications.
He was employed for many years at Fruehauf Trailer Co. in Avon Lake where he was Plant Fire Chief from
1965-1967. He retired from The Andersons of Maumee where he worked as an industrial electrician, and
received the Illustrious Alumni Award in recognition of his contribution and distinguished service in
1990.
Warren was Captain of the volunteer fire department in Sheffield Lake, was instrumental in obtaining the
first Volunteer Ambulance Squad, received a certificate of award for Outstanding and Devoted Service to
the city of Sheffield Lake in 1963 and was named Sheffield Lake’s Outstanding Man of the Year in 1962.

Warren was a charter member of St. Thomas Apostle Catholic Church in Sheffield Lake, and spent much of
his time being active and volunteering at this church, as well as Holy Angels Catholic Church in
Sandusky.
In his spare time, he enjoyed stamp collecting and wood working, and spending time with his family.
Warren is survived by his wife, Mary Alice (Smith) Ruff, whom he married on November 26, 1949; daughter,
Susan (Mike) Kennedy; two sons, David (Gail) and Daniel (Lisa) Ruff; seven grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Warren is preceded in death by his three sisters, Thelma McRobbie, Helen Hine
and Mildred Gast; and brother, Andrew Ruff.
Friends may call on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Groff Funeral Homes &
Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky, OH. A prayer service will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday,
February 12, 2014 in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels
Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Ave., Sandusky.
Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky, OH.
