Roman E. Napierala

Roman E. Napierala, age 91, of Bloomdale, Ohio passed away Friday (April
25, 2014) at the Briar Hill Health Campus in North Baltimore, Ohio.
He
was born on September 22, 1922 in Holland, Ohio to the late Stanley
& Frances (Portala) Napierala.
Roman married Marjorie Ann Warner on
August 27, 1949 in Bowling Green, Ohio; she passed away on March 2,
1999.
Surviving Roman are daughters, Shirley Ann (Tony) Frankfather
of Cygnet, Susan Marie (David) Smith, Sharon Kay (Ray) Gonyer both of
Jerry City, Sandra Lynn (Jeffrey) Stewart of Bloomdale; sisters, Helen
Slomwicz of Holland, Bert Lewondowski of Temperance, Michigan, Dorothy
weckel of Maumee; grandchildren, Sara, Dustin, Tamara, Edward, Julie,
Shelby, Steven, Kendra; 7 Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death
by his parents, Stanley & Frances; loving wife, Marjorie; brothers,
John, Joe, Danny; sisters, Mary Pawzak, Lou Fritz, and 1 grandson.
Roman
served his country proudly in the Army during WWII.
He was a Big Red
1, and fought in the Battle of Bulge under General Patton. Roman retired
from the Gradel Construction Excavating Company in Toledo, where he
worked as Superintendent.
He was a member of the American Legion Post
#7372 in Toledo, and a member of the Portage American Legion Post #
0725.
He was also a member of the operating engineers local 18, and the
Laborer’s Union.
Roman was of Catholic Faith, and loved cooking and
spending time with his family.
Friends will be received from 2-6 PM
on Sunday (April 27, 2014) at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio, where a
Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday (April 28, 2014) at
11 AM.
Burial will be at Jerry City Cemetery, with Military Honors
performed by the Wood County Veterans Memorial Squad.
