Louise C. Smith, 95, of Portage, Ohio, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014, in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Louise was born on April 5, 1919 on the family farm located on Cloverdale Road in Bowling Green, Ohio to
the late George and Edith (Aufdenkamp) Hagemeyer. She married William H. Smith Jr., on February 13, 1943
at Hope Lutheran Church, Bowling Green, Ohio and he preceded her in death on May 17, 1992.
Louise was a lifelong resident of Wood County and attended Cloverdale and Portage Township Schools;
during high school, she enjoyed playing on the school basketball team.
Louise was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church, where she served as the organist, taught Sunday
School, pre-school, she was very active in the churches Luther League program both as a youth and as an
adult and she was a faithful member of the Ladies Aide Society of Hope Lutheran Church.
Louise was very dedicated to the Wood County 4-H program and served as a 4-H advisor for many years
advising the Peppy Puellae 4-H Club.
Her volunteerism also included 37 years with the Wood County Nursing Home in which she received an award
for her outstanding service and dedication.
Louise was a homemaker and a farmwife and also did occasional housekeeping for families in Wood County.
The family farm was her true pride and joy, working along with her husband William. She not only took
care of the housework, she was also out on the farm taking care of the farmland, harvesting, planting,
and even helping with bailing the hay and straw. Louise also enjoyed tending to her gardens and
chickens.
Louise is survived by her sisters: Donna Belle Brinker, of Bowling Green; Marjorie Schulte, of Woodville;
brothers: James (Janet) Hagemeyer, of Waterville; Carl (Maxine) Hagemeyer, of Wayne, Ohio; nieces and
nephews: Patricia Kania, of Bowling Green; William Brinker, of Bowling Green; Thomas Schulte, of Texas;
Mary Satterfield, of Woodville; Jane Zimmerman, of Englewood; Joan Cornell, of Pemberville; Timothy
Schulte, of Woodville; Lyn Shaneyfelt, of Liberty Center; Gary Hagemeyer, of Monclova; David Hagemeyer,
of Bowling Green; Kathy Wilhelm, of Custar; John Hagemeyer, of Bowling Green; Cheryl Hagemeyer-Vetter,
of Bowling Green; Fred, Victor and Larry Friar; Marlene Beggs, and a host of loving great-nieces and
great-nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Louise was preceded in death by an infant son and brothers-in-law:
Elmer Brinker and Victor Schulte.
Visitation for Louise will be held on Monday, May 5, 2014 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the

Funeral Services for Louise will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the Hope Lutheran Church
13507 Cloverdale Road, Bowling Green, Ohio with the Rev: Janine Dress officiating.
Interment will follow the Funeral Service in Fish Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Louise’s honor may be given to Hope Lutheran Church, 13507 Cloverdale Road,
Bowling Green, Ohio 43402.
